The Mission

Pet Loyal wants to share the truth and reality of what happens to man’s best friends. Our society has a tragic pet overpopulation issue that results in the euthanasia of 3 million cats and dogs every year. Nobody is talking about it.  Our goal and hope is for potential pet owners to be educated before owning a pet and current pet owners will give more effort to resolve an issue and search of resources they can utilize before surrendering their pet. If all future and current pet owners understand the responsibility and know where to find resources, fewer pets will end up in shelters and potentially euthanized.

Pet Loyal wants to bring awareness to pet owners and the public on the difficult and complex issue that our shelters and adoption agencies face. Together we can end the suffering and stop the senseless loss of millions of loving pets every year. We will never forget this unfortunate tragedy and cherish those who endured such pain and ultimately loss their life.

The Pet Loyal tag will serve as the universal symbol for the campaign. By showcasing the Pet Loyal tag; it will carry the message and serve as a chance to bring awareness everywhere you go. Please educate yourself and spread awareness on this issue. Talk in person and post on social media to friends, family, coworkers, and  other pet lovers at home, school, or work about Pet Loyal’s mission.

Pets are loyal to us, we should be loyal to them.

The Fact

NEARLY 3 MILLION ADOPTABLE DOGS AND CATS ARE EUTHANIZED EACH YEAR

Human Society of United States

The Problem

Problem

Many owners surrender their pets too easily because they weren’t prepared for the responsibility or didn’t utilize available resources to resolve issue.

Issue

There is an uncontrollable demand by thousands of unprepared potential pet owners who do not realize the time, commitment and responsibility to pet ownership. Issues can arise that an owner did not expect or not willing to resolve which causes them to give up their pet to a shelter or rescue.  Shelters and rescues are receiving a higher rate of pets than they can adopt out. There is limited capacity to handle such an influx.  Across America, there is low funding, staff, pet care, and facilities to address pet overpopulation which result in nearly 3 million pets surrendered in the country to be euthanized.

 Solution

To educate yourself, your friends and family as much as possible before owning a pet. For all owners to learn to be patient, compassionate, and flexible with their pets. Most of the common reasons pets are surrendered are often easily solvable. Pet owners must give full effort to resolve an issue or find available resources to keep their pet. Owners please contact your local rescue organization and government as they often have resources or information available to help with the issue. Friends, family, neighbors and even coworkers can be valuable support. The problem is not shelters or rescue organizations doing too little, people not adopting enough, or raising more money. We need people to keep their pets and potential owners realize they are unable to responsibly own one. This will help resolve the pet overpopulation crisis.
